The elephants at MEF are cared for in a safe environment that meets all their needs. MEF is slowly trying to stop elephant rides and introduce new concepts like the Elephant Walk. They constantly need funding for the elephants (they cost a lot to take care of) as well as new projects to make sure they get the best possible care.
