Birthday Fundraiser for Sistema Cyprus

My birthday is coming up in a few days and one of the best presents that anyone could give me is to make a donation to the organisation that I put all my energy and all my heart to built.

These first two years where not easy. Even if we never discussed in public all the difficulties that we encountered, any times in this journey were extremely difficult. We were either waiting for instruments, by trying very hard to convince big organisations and companies to buy, or we were waiting for funding (which is always a constant worry) to come along. Especially now, with the COVID-19 situation we had to postpone two concerts that would help us fundraise.

I have many dreams on how I would like Sistema Cyprus to be. I dream that one day whenever a child comes and asks me to join Sistema Cyprus, the same moment to be able to give them an instrument and immediately start lessons. I dream that one day Sistema Cyprus will be run by these children, this first generation of Sistema Cyprus.

Sistema Cyprus aims to transform lives of children at-risk in the most challenging areas in Nicosia and Larnaca through music and specifically symphony orchestras and choirs. Sistema Cyprus currently engage more than 200 children and young people from Cyprus, and children of refugee and migrant background. The activities are focused on providing free music instruments, free group instrument lessons and orchestra and choir rehearsals leading to public concerts. The second aim is to promote respect and recognition of vulnerable population groups from the society.
