BIRD & WILDLIFE SANCTUARY NEEDS HELP!
PLEASE DONATE JUST A SMALL SUM (£1,$1,1 EURO) EVERY LITTLE HELPS WITH THIS LIFE SAVING, WORTHY CAUSE!
I am seeking funds to help a pensioner named Pat Denny who has, for the past 15 years of her life, dedicated all her time and remortgaged her home turning her grounds into an amazing, wildlife sanctuary for injured, disabled birds and wildlife of all kinds. This wonderful sanctuary known as 'Hawcliffe Bird Sanctuary' is an absolute haven for the wildlife however, it has now fallen into serious financial crisis! Pat is struggling to feed the birds each and every day and so, her beloved sanctuary, is in serious danger of closing! This would, inevitably, break Pat's heart and ultimately destroy the lives of all the wildlife that rely on her for care! Pat is a truly remarkable, selfless and wonderful lady who has dedicated these last 15 years to rescue, save, care for and give loving homes to any bird or animal that needs her help! She is on call 24/7, responding instantly whenever she is called upon which is, indeed, very often! Members of the general public, vets, RSPCA and also the police turn to her whenever such an occasion arises when a bird or animal needs urgent help. Vets and the RSPCA send birds to her for rehabilitation however, she gets no financial contribution from any of them for the committed, loving work she does both by day and by night! Pat has, to her credit, saved the lives of thousands of birds and animals that would have otherwise died and, even when she is, herself, unwell it is the birds that forever come first!!
PAT AND HER SANCTUARY IS A HUGE ASSET TO CUMBRIA
Pat Denny and the work she does is well known in my home town of Barrow in Furness and all the surrounding areas. She has no income only her pension to rely on and she gains no financial assistance for her kindhearted, selfless, dedicated work to the helpless wildlife that so rely on her for care and attention, they would be so very lost without her! Animal Welfare do contribute £100 per month for all the good work that she does and she does, sometimes, receive donations from the public but it doesn't go very far! I have, personally, set up a monthly standing order for Pat in an effort to ease things 'just a little' however, this is by far never ever enough as her dedication and plight is an ongoing situation!
CARING PAT MAKES WILDLIFE HER PRIORITY
Pat does not want anything for herself, all she wants in life is to be able to feed, provide hygienic lofts and to pay for the birds' veterinary treatment as, and when required, which is expensive in it's own right! The vets do, sometimes, reduce her bills a little and I say 'a little' on the basis of all the good work that she does however, this is 'only' sometimes!
Despite her 70+ years and painful cellulitis and, to subsidise her pension and help fund her, complete devotion for her wildlife, she works as a taxi driver during the evenings to help bring in some extra money for her sanctuary. This is, at times, very dangerous for her especially at her age and, there was one terrible occasion, when she was attacked however, it is her birds and animals that are her sole priority, her welfare comes right at the bottom of the list! Her son, Mark, lives with her and helps her as much as he possibly can and he is, equally devoted and committed to the bird sanctuary as much as Pat. He loves and cares for the birds as much as she does and he is always there to give her his support. He helps her as much as he can financially but the demands of running such a sanctuary is extremely hard going and extensive!
Pat with her beloved one eyed Magpie which she reared from a baby and which mischievously escaped but with the help of the public, he is now back where he belongs!
DESPERATION TO SUPPORT SANCTUARY EXPENSES
Pat is desperately struggling financially and is so often consumed with despair, shedding many a tear, not knowing from one day to the next how the birds are going to be fed! In absolute desperation, she has, sadly, been forced to rummage in the waste bins behind supermarkets in order to obtain what she can to feed them for the next day! She always makes sure, somehow, that they are all provided for even if it means going without herself! Pat and her son round up all the birds early every evening to lock them up in their cosy lofts for the night to ensure their safety and protection from nearby foxes and they have vast, private grounds to wander during the day, with ponds and those that can fly, always return to their loving home every night!
PAT IS COMMITTED TO THE NEEDS OF ALL WILDLIFE!
Pat currently has over 60 gulls, several geese, ducks, rooks, crows and many pigeons, some will never be able to fly at all but you can see how happy and contented they all are with their lives, having vast grounds to spend their days, food and water, a place to sleep at ease at night but most important of all they have so much love!!
Pat, as all people should be, wholly and complicitly respects all wildlife being strongly opposed to euthanasia as an option to dispose of injured, disabled birds and animals. Of course, if there is going to be no quality of life for the bird or animal due to being ill or suffering incurable pain then Pat is caring enough to know that, then and only 'then' that euthanasia is the humane option and the only 'right' thing to do! She does however, not take this decision lightly though and always, everytime single time, it causes her so much sadness and grief! If, on the other hand, the bird can have good quality of life with her or, it just needs looking after until it can fend for itself again in the wild, then Pat fights 'tooth and nail' to make sure that euthanasia does not happen! For years, Pat has cared for a blind rook that lives with her inside her home and you can see just how very much she loves it and how much he loves her in return!
Plea for Help: Pat Denny at her 'Hawcliffe Bird Sanctuary' in Barrow-in-Furness with with her blind rook.
Any bird or animal that needs care and this can be 24/7, Pat is always there to help! If it is in a 'bad way' then she will take it into her home to keep watch over it, she will administer any treatment that may be necessary and ensure that it is kept warm. Pat has taken in some orphaned baby hedgehogs which she fed and looked until they were fit and well to be released back into the wild, she has saved the life of a comorant and also a swan when it suffered a broken leg after being hit by a bus! Pat is frequently called upon for advice about wildlife which, is how I originally met her, when I needed advice on a disabled pigeon 3 years ago and also a disabled seagull last year. Her advice was invaluable to me and much appreciated. I still have these two birds to this day and they are leading happy lives with me and my family!
WELL KNOWN FOR HER WORK AND STRONG DETERMINATION
Pat appears regularly in the local newspapers for her dedication for bird/animal welfare and is a strong advocate for them all, voicing her anger at the abuse of innocent, helpless birds that tragically suffer at the hands of so many evil members of the human race! Pat's strong determination to protect birds brought media publicity when she fought for the removal of wind turbines which were placed near the local Tesco Store that were responsible for the killing of hundreds of birds and her determined fight succeeded!!

You can 'google' Pat to read all about her kindness that she has whole heartedly bestowed on all the wildlife that are, so very lucky, to have come into her care! The local Newspaper 'The Evening Mail' has highlighted Pat's sanctuary being at financial crisis point, calling upon the desperate need for urgent funds!
FINANCIAL HELP URGENTLY REQUIRED
It is for all the aforesaid reasons that I am reaching out to all you kindhearted and caring people in the hope that you may be able to contribute some funds, no matter how little, to help Pat with her life saving sanctuary and, by doing so you will immensely alleviate much of Pat's anxiety and daily worries but most important of all your funds will help to provide the following:
- help to keep the sanctuary open and running with no fear of closure.
- regular supply of food for all the variety of birds and animals.
- the maintenance of lofts by the provision of cleaning materials and fresh, clean bedding to ensure the bird lofts reside in comfortable, hygienic conditions and are all well cared for.
- help to cover the continous costs incurred by the various veterinary treatments that are regularly necessary,
- it will provide the health supplements and medications that birds need for their healthy recovery and continuous survival.
- And, as a result of all the above, it will also inevitably help to eliminate the terrible anxiety and stress that Pat suffers every single day of her life.
THANK YOU FOR ANY FINANCIAL HELP YOU CAN GIVE!
Your kind and generous contributions, no matter how small as every little helps, will be so very gratefully received and will go along way to significantly help this wonderful lady to cope with all the work she does at the amazing sanctuary that she, herself, created and which has now become so crucial to this and surrounding areas, being relied upon by public, vets, RSPCA and police alike!
Pat fully commits all her time to the welfare and protection of wildlife however, to have this enormous pressure of financial burden removed would, instantaneousy, free her from all her constant daily worries! Pat loves and enjoys this life that she has chosen, albeit so very hard and time consuming! It means the world to her to fight for, save and look after the wildlife that forever come into her care but, for just one moment can you possibly imagine, what a precious financial gift this would mean to this unbelievable and remarkable lady - such a 'gift' would enable her to do all that she already does, without the anxiety, torment and despair of not knowing where the next penny is coming from, it would stop all the terrible agony of what she suffers now every single day!! It would be so liberating for her to know that funds are there to help and, for Pat and the truly remarkable and loving woman that she truly is, she really does deserve nothing less!!
ONE FINAL COMMENT IN APPRECIATION!
I pray with All of My Heart that you, kindhearted people reading this, will be able to help Pat and all her beloved wildlife! Your kind generosity will, as a result, help and enable this wonderful sanctuary to remain open, expand and continue to survive and for this Pat, her son Mark, I and all her precious wildlife will be forever eternally grateful to you! Thank you for any help at all that you are able to give, for which I truly cannot thank you enough!
