Campaign Story
We are going to Washington, D.C!
Birchtree Charter School's Eighth Grade Class has set a goal to go to Washington, D.C. in the Spring of 2015. This is an opportunity for our students to experience an incrdible journey of learning and personal development. Not only will they be transformed into better students but they will also gain an appreciation of what it means to be an American citizen. The students are connected to the powers and responsibilities of their citizenship. The phrase "Freedon is not free" becomes real as they tour war memorials, arlington cemetery, capitol, presidential monuments, etc. Students return with a new appreciation of the sacrifices of our forefathers and are inspired by their potential to impact America's future.
This experience affects the whole student. These students will gain tremendous confidence and independence travelling with classmates.
Each student is raising half of his/her own funding through work which builds their own sense of responsibility. The value of personal investment yields a great sense of accomplishment.
We are however, asking for help with a part of the funding for this trip as we do not want to make this a financial burden on our families...this is where we are asking for your support. We are requesting donations of any amount towards our class trip.
Please email me (the class teacher) at [email protected] if you have any questions about our trip. Thank you so much for your time in reading our fundraiser page.
Sincerely,
