BioMariachis Mission

The Calakmul Biosphere Reserve in Mexico is a huge stretch of rainforest that forms part of the Maya Forest. It covers Mexico, Guatemala, and Belize and covers more than 10.6 million hectares. It's definitely an important biodiversity hotspot that needs to be retained! We are biology students of the University of Algarve, Portugal. Recently we were given the opportunity to make a scientific expedition, where we can join a research team for a month. It is a great opportunity and a dream that would come true. Unfortunately, we can not afford all the costs alone and we need your help. Any contribution is welcome!

A Reserva da Biosfera de Calakmul no México é uma enorme extensão de floresta tropical que faz parte da Selva Maya que abrange o México, Guatemala e Belize e abrange mais de 10,6 milhões de hectares, tornando-se a maior floresta tropical a norte da Amazónia. É definitivamente um importante hotspot de biodiversidade que precisa de ser conservado! Somos alunas da Universidade do Algarve, estudantes de biologia. Recentemente foi nos dada a oportunidade de fazer uma expedição científica, onde poderemos integrarmo-nos numa equipa de investigação durante um mês. É uma grande oportunidade e um sonho que seria concretizado. Infelizmente, não temos possibilidade de suportar todos os custos sozinhas e precisamos da tua ajuda. Qualquer contribuição é bem-vinda!
