Binti Wa Kitaa

BINTI WA KITAA CAMPAIGN is a social behavior change campaign launched to end early pregnancy and child marriage in Tanzania. A campaign target girls under 18 years living in the /vulnerable areas with inadequate reproductive knowledge on protecting themselves from pregnancy. The campaign also targets parents on effects/impacts of early pregnancy and the importance of protecting young girls in the society.

BINTI WA KITAA” is the common phrase used by Tanzania youth referring girls who are living within the streets. For this, campaign BINTI WA KITAA referred as the young girl living in a community who denied access to school because of traditional believe or poverty.

Campaign Objectives

To raise awareness within the community on the effect of early pregnancy and child marriage.

To give young girls sexual reproductive health knowledge that will help them to have deep understanding of their physical body changes and how they can protect themselves against early pregnancy by avoiding engagement on relationship and unsafe sex.

To raise awareness to parents about the importance of investing on girl in education rather than force to get marriage and on the child parent- relationship.

Strengthen community systems to stop early pregnancy and Child marriage through referral service; advocating, communication and social mobilization that will make the community to be aware with the effect of early pregnancy and child marriage.

Objective 5: Build an enabling environment for implementation of early pregnancy and child marriage programs that will help the community to be aware on how they can play a part to end early pregnancy and child marriage in Tanzania.
