Bingham Cup Sydney 2014: Charlotte Royals RFC

The Bingham Cup is a biennial world class competition for non-professional rugby unions. Named after Mark Kendall Bingham, a San Francisco-based gay rugby player who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks. Mr. Bingham was among the passengers on United Airlines Flight 93 who tried to wrestle control of the aircraft from terrorists before it crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. The Cup honors the leadership exhibited by Mark and others during that tragic day in America.

The Charlotte Royals Rugby Football Club is my home team. My teammates and I are raising funds to get the team to Sydney Australia in August 2014 for this prestigious sporting event.  Help us with this once in a lifetime dream of competing against some of the best teams in the world to bring the Bingham Cup back to the USA!

We estimate that our costs per player will be around $2,000 for air tavel and accommodations. We need to raise well over $46,000 within the next year to get us to Sydney.
