- Hi everyone! I’m Izang Gaviola- Requieron from general santos city, philippines. This is my son Alexander. He was diagnose with hirschsprung’s disease last November 23,2018.
- This started last March 2018 when we decided to bring him to Davao City and consult what was the reason of his constant constipation for almost 2 years. He was seen by his pedia and ordered for abdominal x-ray which we did and Immediately referred to Pedia-Gastro. August 2018 he went to a barrium enema test and the result came into most likely hirschsprung’s disease, she later suggest to see Dr. Santiago Aquino a Pedia-Surgeon ASAP. November 20,2018 we had appointment to Dr. Aquino for check up and showed the result of his Barrium.
- It was discussed detailedly to us including the procedures and stages he needs to go through if he will be positive to hirschsprung’s. The only way to know is to undergo biopsy which he did.The result was: hirschsprung’s disease considered and proceeds to colostomy, he underwent an operation with 2 procedures last November 22, 2018.Hirschsprung’s disease is a disease that affects the large intestine or colon of newborns, babies and toddlers. This condition prevents bowel movements or stool to pass through the inestines due to the missing ganglion nerve cell in the lower part of the colon that was cause by a birth defect.
- The pediatric surgeon explained that my son needs to undergo 3 stages of surgery.
- Stage 1 - is the rectal biopsy and colostomy stoma in his abdomen which cost P190k.My son already underwent stage 1 and the rectal biopsy result was my son is really positive with hirschsprung’s disease.and had a colostomy.
- Now my son needs 2 more and he is currently confined here in Davao Doctors Hospital for Stage 2 - which is Biopsy and pull through operation that will cost 300k. and finally proceeds to stage 3 - which is the closure of colostomy stoma that cost 250k and he needs to be hospitalized within 7 to 10 days.
- We all need your prayers during this very difficult time and any financial help will really be a blessing to my son. It’s too embarrassing to ask but i needed to for my son since his health insurance did give any even a single cent, the money we prepared for this entire operation still cannot cope for his hospital bills.
