Bianca’s B.Ed (Foundation Phase) Degree

Introduction:
Bianca is an amazing, vibrant, beautiful, vibrant young woman. She has incredible energy and a wonderful soul. She has always aspired to teach young, foundation phase (5-8 year old) learners, but has never been in a position to fund her studies.

Background:
She's recently joined our family (we're fostering her younger sister) after working 3 jobs for 4 years to make ends meet. Before this, she put herself through a year of matric (Grade 12) whilst staying with the parents of a fellow student she didn't know, after her biological mother (a single parent, suffering many years of addiction & mental illness) disappeared suddenly. During the earlier years of living with her mother, Bianca brought up her little sister and moved 'home' 27 times whilst surviving in an economically and emotionally barren situation. Friends would always remark on how Bianca always managed to remain resilient, cheerful and steadfast in adversity during this time:- Always mature and doing her best.

Current position:
Since her move to Cape Town 5 months ago, Bianca has been working in a full time post as a teachers' assistant (student intern), receiving a basic stipend as remuneration. The little learners and fellow teachers love her to bits. Study fees are not included in the job package, and the amount, (whilst appreciated), is not sufficient to facilitate independent living.

Current study registration status:
We are delighted that Bianca has been accepted into UNISA (the official correspondence university in South Africa) for a B.Ed in 2020. She has successfully enrolled for foundation phase teaching studies and will be undertaking full modules over the forthcoming 4 years in order to complete the primary school teaching degree.

Current challenge:
Bianca's daily work schedule with the children at school entails working 8 hour days. As she begins full time correspondence studies, we are worried about her taking on extra jobs, (although she has applied for these in the interim), as it may make it difficult for her to full embrace and enjoy her degree and practical experience.

What Bianca needs:
Bianca needs year 1 UNISA B.Ed study fees, please. She needs the first 460 USD (R5 500) by the 31st January 2020. The next amount is due by 7th March 2020 and is around 700 USD (R8 000). The remaining amount is around 300 USD (R3 500) and is due by 31st July.
Thereafter, each of the 4 years of tuition fees is similar in fee amount and structure.

What we can do to validate our GOGETFUNDING request:
We have Bianca's registration & correspondence from UNISA, confirming the above registration and fee structure.

What Bianca intends doing with the degree:
Bianca would love to teach young learners in order to use her experience and skills to grow and nurture young minds and support them through the early education phase of their development. She feels passionate about her dream of becoming a foundation phase teacher, and having a positive impact on the youth.
