Beulah funding support

My friend Angela Dawson and I (Carla) will be raising money for Beulah. Beulah is my mother in law and was diagnosed last year in 2012 with stage IV terminal melanoma, all of which started from a small dark mole on her back which was removed 6 years previously. Sadly they did not remove all the cells nor did they do a scan and those cells then travelled through her lymph system to where we are to date.

Since diagnosis Beulah has received treatment in the UK - Chemotherapy and Yervoy (a type of immune therapy) both have unfortunately failed and in December 2012 was told nothing more could be done and she was given just 8 weeks to live. This would have been the 13^th February 2013 and sadly before the birth of her first grandchild due in April. Beulah has not given up and neither have we – we have contacted people all over the world in the hope for a lifeline and in January this year we found one in the name of Dr Algera, a Cancer specialist in Spain who is running a trial for Melanoma patients, there are just 10 places and Beulah fortunately was number 8 which is a miracle in itself that she made the trial, receiving the news and having hope again was the best news that Beulah could have had.

Since January Beulah travels to Spain every two weeks to receive treatment, she is still very ill but we are seeing signs of improvement and most recently although she has many tumours now internally and externally we had news that some of shrunk and two have even disappeared! More hope!

Although the drug treatment is free as it is a drug trial for research purposes, the appointments, CT scans, flights are not and we are desperately looking for support to help fund this vital treatment.

I will be running the New York Marathon in November and a half Marathon in September on behalf of Beulah and Angela will be completing a half marathon, 100 mile cycle and the New York Marathon with me. I will also be updating this page with fundraising events.
