FORD’S BETTER-IDEAS FUND:

Grain-dryer

This project has 3 goals:A new energy system, energy retrofits for existing dryers, and a quick-freeze dryer.

Many of the required parts can be or already have been salvaged and will not need to be manufactured. This will reduce overall expenses, but makes accounting for the expenses somewhat difficult. The PATENT OFFICE will likely require the prototypes’ patents-pending to be filed separately. Expenses for non-provisional patent(s) have not been included for this project, but will be incurred within 12 months of filing for patent(s)-pending. Hopefully, the cost for non-provisional patent(s) can be covered by licensing agreements made during the 12 months when the patent(s) are still pending.

GOALS:

1: Electric system:

An “alternate-electrical-generation-system” for use in grain dryers to provide an energy source that reduces energy & fuel requirements. This substitute invention will increase profit by reducing these variable costs.Assembling the electrical system supports the second and third goals as well as future goals for benefits that are not open to public discussion at this time. If you would like to discuss these future benefits, you will be required to sign and return a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and an Idea Submission Agreement (ISA).

2: Upgrades for existing dryers:

Upgrade an existing dryer with the new electrical system (an "addition invention", which is a new component added to an existing device). This prototype is meant to increase revenues and profits by reducing the fuel-costs of drying grain. Capacity and drying time are expected to be the same. Meaning the dryers will become more efficient, but not more effective.

3: Quick-freeze grain dryer

The “quick-freeze drying system” is an entirely new dryer that changes the energy system as well as other major components. This makes it a "substitution invention" so far as patents are concerned.

This dryer will make the drying process more efficient and more effective by decreasing the amount of electricity needed to operate a dryer and/or eliminating the need for propane and natural gases or. It will reduce drying times by at least 15-20%, which also increases the overall capacity that can be dried.

It is possible that there will be substantial savings on the initial investment and a longer useful-life, which would reduce costs during the short and long-terms.

An additional benefit of this system is that the grains’ moisture can be reclaimed and used either for irrigation or filtered for human consumption.
