“Better Angels” Fundraiser

In late 2012, while I was working as a support worker, there was a news piece about a man living with Schizophrenia who had committed a murder.

A client of mine, living with Schizophrenia, had watched the piece in which local residents being interviewed referred to the hospitalized man as "a monster".

This client came to me in tears. He asked me if he was a monster. This was when I was inspired to use my talent with words to make some change in my community.

I have written a play entitled "Better Angels".

It will be opening in October, 2013, but we need help getting this off the ground. Theater is not only a time consuming task, but it can also be a costly one.

80% of the funds raised from this production will be headed toward the "Manitoba Schizophrenia Society". The other 20% will go toward our theater group, with the intention of running a new play yearly, for a different mental health based charity.
