We call him Daddy Otoy.

When I was a child, me and my cousins were always excited when he come to visit us in Quezon Province because he always buy "souvenirs" such as cakes, doughnuts and sometimes clothes and toys for us. Every lunch, he wants his relatives to eat together, so he always cooks more than 10 servings of meal. It’s also his habit to buy sack of rice, canned goods, and fruits and then distributes to his beloved families who are less fortunate. And it was like always a fiesta in our home (what a lovely moments!). The most exciting part of his visit is that before he goes back to Manila for work, he then gives each of us money as an additional allowance in school. He always gives a lecture before he handed the money to that particular person telling to study well for us to have better life in the future. Most of the elders in the family began to rely always to what he can give to them which turned into idleness to strive for life.

He also helps our neighborhood by giving groceries/money because seeing a pitiful person is hurting his heart.

As I grow up and graduated. I went to Manila to look for a job. I stayed in his apartment and one time I asked him, "Tito (Uncle), why didn't you marry someone? And have kids?" He answered me "I don’t want to marry and have own kids, as I already have nieces and nephews and also I wanted to help our family and give them a better life". He always thinks of others before himself. He’s a very unselfish person that I know. He is our Bread Winner!

And now, my uncle, Miguel Sarne, 54 years of age, retired at his work due to his health problems.

Last 3rd of February year 2019, we brought him to the hospital due to his bloated stomach and legs. He has a diabetic disease which later diagnosed with kidney failure that really troubles us. The Doctor advised us that his creatinine had increased to 1000 level and to further increase his lifespan, it will require doing dialysis sessions. So after hearing that result, it saddened our family and down to earth moment. He doesn’t have enough savings to cover his financial expenses, it’s because when he is at peak of his career, he always give his earnings to others. He always gives even though he doesn’t have any more to give. That’s what makes him our Daddy Otoy.

At the moment, he’s currently undergoing a hemo dialyisis – a transfusion of blood. This will only serve him 2 months of quite better condition. Our family is in the discussion of pushing through a fistula surgery which will cost us a large amount of funds that we are not capable of at the moment.

Most of my relatives who already have their own families could only give their service for our uncle. And I, Charmaine Lagunero, 22 years of age, have been spoiled by him with random stuff when I was a child; know to myself that I couldn’t give enough funds for my uncle since I only have small salary.

That is why I would like to reach out for your help for my Uncle’s continuous treatment and dialysis session. Any amounts of donations are greatly appreciated and will be very helpful as I already cherished that you spend your time reading the brief story of our spectacular Daddy Otoy. I would like to thank you in advance in behalf of our family members. God Bless you and your family. Thank you!
