Please help me raise some money to contribute to the costs to run a children's camp in Belarus this summer. The camp is promoted as a rest camp where children can attend camp for 10 days, providing respite during this time and an opportunity to have fun in a safe and positive environment.
The camp is located in a large complex in the countryside which was designed as a place where children who have been affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster can stay and receive treatment and care. Over the years, the complex has expanded as demand increased and now focuses on health and disabilities for children in Belarus.
I know the complex extremely well as I have participated in a number of camps there with different organisations. For the second year I am joining a team from Belarus and 1 from the USA who have arranged these camps for over 10 years. The aim of the camp is to provide rest, fun, activities, teaching, medical treatment and nourishment for all the children. There will be around 40 children for a 10 day camp ages 10 - 15 who all come from different parts of Belarus. Children who have attended similar camps in the past call the complex "their paradise".
All volunteer expenses and camp resources have already been paid for, this funding is to raise money to cover the cost places for children (approx £170 each). I'm hoping to raise enough for 3 places with your help.
Over previous years, most of the funding is raised in America - however full funding has not been raised this year and every little helps to make the camp happen.
Last year I had the privilege to join the camp and get to know the young people. An experience I will never forgot. I loved it and I hope to repeat the experience this year.
