Beating Diabetes in Fiji

Hey, guys! This January I am headed to Fiji to work with local health centers, government agencies, and dietitians to provide diabetes/nutrition counseling within the community. Currently, almost 1 in 3 Fijians is diabetic, and is most likely struggling with obesity and other non-communicable diseases as well. There is currently a lack in public health education, so it will be my job to help conduct general health assessments, nutrition consultations, and nutrition research, as well as incorporate nutrition education and public exercise programs in the towns of Lautoka and Nadi.

I will be volunteering with a non-profit organization called Involvement Volunteers International, however, I am responsible for covering my living expenses while abroad. Please help me raise funds so that I can help improve the nutrition and well-being of the Fijian population, as well as further expand my education and practice in the field of dietetics.
