Hello everyone. My name is Earl Robin T. Sario, 26 years old. I was diagnosed with Stage II – A Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. I am currently on my second treatment protocol to put me into a very good partial remission and eventually undergo Bone Marrow Transplant within the year.

On May 2020
, I manifested all symptoms of covid-19 which prompted me to have an X-ray and CT-scan where we found out that I had a mass on my left chest. I was referred to Lung Center of the Philippines to see Pulmonologist and part of their protocol was to take the RT-PCR test (Swab test). It turned out to be positive (as I was already immuno-compromised) so I was admitted. After I was cured of the covid, a biopsy was done and turned out to be malignant.

On June 2020, I underwent chemotherapy (R-CHOP). After 2 sessions we were hopeful and grateful as my mass size decreased by more than 50%. After 2 more sessions, CT-scan showed a slight increase in size of the mass. Sadly, the mass reverted back to its original size after completing the 6 sessions. Our family prayed even harder as we were puzzled on why it developed resistance.

On December 2020, I started with radiotherapy hoping it will respond this time. Unfortunately, after completing 19 session of radiotherapy, my symptoms got worse.

On January 2021, our Oncologist referred us to see a Hematologist-Oncologist Bone Marrow Transplant Specialist. He recommended novel chemotherapy (non-traditional) (Pembroluzimab,Ibrutinib and Venetoclax) which would cost more or less P400,000 per session and I need at least (6). I will also be given post-transplant maintenance medicines.

I am appealing to your kind heart for any financial support to give me a fighting chance. The pandemic made our situation even more challenging with very limited source of income since all of us are unemployed We are also doing the best we can to avail of any programs and financial assistance from various organizations.

UPDATE: (2021) Earl was discharged last Saturday, February 27, after 2 weeks of confinement. He was admitted because he can hardly talk, eat and drink his medicines because of a supposedly blockage in his throat. When the doctors did a work up, they found out lots of fluid in his lungs, pulmonary embolism, and the lymphoma spread to his abdomen. Sad to say his oncologist advised him to be put in CCU (Coronary Care Unit) for close monitoring. He was put into ventilator for 3 days because his oxygen level is dropping. He is also on NGT (Nasogastric Tubing). He had a very short seizure but recovered. His doctors were very competent to catch and address all the issues. He was out of the CCU after a week, 2 days in the progressive room and then 2 days in a regular room. Thankfully he was discharged last Feb 27, but with a pleural catheter on to continuously drain the fluid from his left lung. He is now slowly recovering at home, chemo is on going in preparation for the bone marrow transplant.

Thank you for your support. I strongly believe that we will get through this. Please also included me and my family in your prayers.

Thank you for your generosity. “But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds declares the Lord.” (Jeremiah 30:17)
