Light – Mossel Bay

Mossel Bay is a picturesque town along the iconic Garden Route of sunny South Africa. We have breathtaking views and our streets usually crawl with tourists. Today, we're a town with starving people and we need YOUR help.

South Africa's nationwide lockdown has left countless of people without any means of income, most of whom also don't have any savings to fall back on as they normally survive on a day-to-day income basis. Thus, hundreds of individuals in our little town are, as we speak, facing the prospect of starving.

It's heartbreaking to see people without any hope in their eyes. How do you provide for your family when you're not allowed to work? What can you say to your starving children, asking when their next meal will be?

Every day more and more desperately hungry children show up at street corners and church steps, asking for something to eat.

A portion of the funds YOU help us raise will be used to assist Street Angels Soup Kitchen in Mossel Bay. They provide vulnerable children and elderly people with a warm cup of soup each day. For one soup kitchen to run over 2 weeks, we will need R2000 / $110 / €100

Our FIRST R10 000 will go towards this ministry, to enable them to run five different soup kitchens simultaneously over the course of 2 weeks.

Our SECOND goal is to hand out food parcels to 500 families, consisting out of approximately four people in each household. These food parcels will contain only essentials in order to survive. Items include maize meal; flour; rice; potatoes; soup mix and beans.

We can feed a family of four people for 2 weeks with as little as R280 / $16 / €14

We ask you to consider donating to our cause. Any amount will have a great impact. You have the chance to feed someone that might not have eaten for days. The fight for food is REAL during this time, and any donation will make a positive difference.
