Hi My name is David Farinacci and my company, Skilled Services International, is a small construction labor leasing company which started in late 2016. We help skilled workers in the construction trades land good paying jobs in the market. We also help many inner-city residents who may lack skill but want to work and learn a trade. REMEMBER not everyone is wired for college but they may be "wired" to be an electrician.
Our company partners with a couple of city training facilities to try and place their students. It's difficult for many to obtain work as the training is basic and minimal. A chance many contractors don't take. We, however, do. And since we handle the workers compensation insurance on our employees, it becomes an attractive option for the contractors to take the opportunity to see what the workers skills and work ethic are like. We're the bridge these less skilled workers need!!
It's been a slow year and we fell behind on a few things. The workers compensation insurance is one of the major ones. The New York State Insurance Fund is our carrier. They know that other companies won't write a policy for our company and it shows in the exorbitant fees they charge. If I'm unable to pay their rates then they will cancel my policy which is needed to keep the people working. It's come close a couple of times. My bill is due soon and they will then send a notice of cancellation. If I don't get the payment in by the date of that notice, then the company is done. These most of my employees will be unemployed. Few, will get hired on.
Here's where you come in. To help me get over this hump I'm looking for a portion of what I need. The majority is to keep the workers comp in place. Along with a little cushion for day to day operations. Do I need more than my ask? Yes, but this amount will get me over the hump. Business is picking up again and my clients are forecasting it will pick up more in a few weeks or so. That's great! However the turnaround time from workers being placed to when we get paid is long. Not short enough to get the money in for the work comp coverage.
I appreciate anything you can do to help me get over this time period so I can keep my 20 plus employees working and learning a trade as well as getting many more out into the field this coming year.
