Be a Candle of Hope: Maria’s Fight against Leukemia

A lovely and cheerful daughter, Ma. Eilyzah Lenneth Katigbak (fondly called "Maria" by her family and relatives) has been a shining beacon of hope to everyone she meets. During the last quarter of 2018, Maria's parents, Robert and Ria, started noticing paleness in their daughter, which led them to seek medical attention right there and then. After numerous tests and visits to several hospitals, Maria was diagnosed with B-Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), a type of cancer that affects the B cells and T cells in a person's immune system.

A month later, in November 2018, Maria commenced her treatment process that includes chemotherapy, bone marrow aspiration, and biopsy, among many other medications she had to endure at such a young age. All these processes and procedures were, of course, costly as they had to be administered on a regular basis. Fortunately, there were people and organizations who took their time to pray for Maria's strength and recovery as she and her family underwent through this challenge. At present, the treatment process is still ongoing and resources to cover the medical expenses for Maria are still needed. Currently, Maria tries her best to go to school and learn, play with her cousins, and smile despite the struggle she is facing.

As such, we also want to encourage Maria to continue being a candle of hope for herself, her parents, and other leukemia patients. This is why we are creating this fundraiser so that Maria could receive all the support she needs as she fights this battle. Hence, we are accepting both your prayers and financial donations (of any amount) to send to Maria's parents.
