BAYANI is the Filipino translation of HERO but more than being a hero, it is 'a person of extraordinary courage and ability; a person considered to possess extraordinary talents or someone who did something noble (“dakila”)' (UP Diksiyonaryong Filipino, 2001)
BAYANIHAN signifies the solidarity, unity, and love for community of the Filipino people.
On 23 May 2017, a group of terrorists invaded the islamic city of Marawi. Thousands of people have now been evacuated to nearby cities of Iligan, Cagayan de Oro, and various parts of Lanao del Sur, Lanao del Norte, and Misamis Oriental. As most relief operations are focused on the evacuees, a group of us in our family have decided to give back to the soldiers and police force who are sacrificing their lives for our safety.
As of today, 14 June, 58 soldiers and policemen have died and more than 130 have been wounded in action.
Project BAYANI-han aims to collect thank you letters and drawings from the community (specifically school children) expressing their gratitude to our defensemen. We are also collecting cash donations that will be used to buy goods for the care packages that will be sent to the deployed soldiers and police not only in Marawi but also in other war-torn parts of the country (such as Basilan, Jolo, etc).
Care packages will include: books, food, hygiene products, and letters.
If you wish to send letters, kindly email your pictures or messages to [email protected]
If you wish to send goods, you can always coordinate with us at 09988563967.
We also accept bank transfers thru BPI deposits. Please text us for bank details. Thank you!
This page will be updated frequently for transparency and receipts.
Thank you so much! A little help will come a long way. :)
