Hi, my name is Nikki from Pasig, Philippines. Since last year, my father has been undergoing dialysis. From accompanying him, I was deeply honored and had a chance to meet other dialysis patients and know about their life stories. A lot of them are greatly struggling with the finances of the said treatment and I must say that it is a necessity.

Last year, month of June, my father at the age of 62, admitted to the hospital and found out that his kidneys are already failing as the size of his one kidney is very small as the normal one. Aside from diabetes, hypertension, prostate problem, he was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney disease stage 5 as a complication of his diabetes. His creatinine level reached from 900 from a normal level of 60-90. The doctor had advised him to undergo emergency dialysis during the time we brought him and with no choice, the procedure was done and push through having it 3x a week.

He doesn’t even have any insurance plan or health card to cover his hospitalization. Financial assistance that we received from government agencies like Philhealth and PCSO are still not enough to fully complete the treatment frequency of my dad. Even his senior pension is not enough to buy his medicines for maintenance.

Just this month of November, last week of the month, he was brought to hospital as he can’t easily breathe and as per doctor’s observation, he was diagnosed with mild stroke and pneumonia. He was admitted in a room with ICU setup as his body needs some machines to monitor his heart and breathing. Even if we still wanted him to stay in the hospital for complete recovery, we decided to bring him home and signed a waiver as we cannot afford to make the bill higher and his Philhealth contribution had already stopped as it was been used already on his hospital admission last February. We even borrowed an oxygen tank on our barangay ambulance just to make sure that he will be safe at home.

In behalf of my dad, I seek for your help by donating any amount that could possibly be an extension to his life and live normal. The donations will be used to pay either for the session itself or for needed medicines. I truly hope you can be one with me in making this fundraising a success. We may not return what you will give us, but rest assured that your donation will be in great use and God knows those with good hearts will be rewarded a hundred folds.
