Every year the Middle school and High School Boys and Girls Basketball Teams at our school participate in a tournament in Montreal. East Side is the only United States school to participate in this tournament. For four days student athletes play in several games from 8 am to 5 pm. The trip involves taking in the sights of Montreal, team/community building with fellow East Siders as well as competing at a high level in another country. As the economy continues to change the costs of this trip have become more and more expensive. Students spend months raising money for this trip but it has not always been enough with the rising costs of gas, hotel, transportation, etc. With that said your kind donation would help 50 student athletes participate in an opportunity of a lifetime. Many of these student athletes come back from this trip changed as they get to experience a new culture, learn French and create a forever bond with their peers.
Student athletes get to experience a new country, learn a new language, and compete at a high level with student athletes from many parts of Canada. Traveling opens students to new experiences and allows them to leave high school as well rounded individuals. For many students just the process of getting passport cards/passports has been life changing and has encouraged them to travel more.
Number of Students
50 student athletes from 6-12th grade.
