The newly formed U16 Torbay Tigers girls team needs new basketball kit. The girls currently use old boys kit which is not ideal and to achieve this goal Ben Wickenden has kindly offered to try and raise funds for the team by running the Edinburgh marathon.
Pro-cedes from Ben's run will go towards buying new basketball kit for the girls team and any additional funds raised will go towards a 17 seater mini-bus which will allow the club to transport the teams to their away fixtures around the South West of England.
Playing basketball in a youth team can really help develop a young person's self-believe and confidence which can also help prepare them for adult-hood. Playing in a team sport helps young people develop camaraderie and friendships which can last a life-time and being an indoor sport, you know the game is going to be played no matter what the weather.

Update posted by TorbayTigers at 12:02 pmSadly with great sadness Ben has had to pull out of the Edinburgh marathon as he ruptured his hamstring during training. He was 4 miles into his last 20 mile run and he felt a twinge in his leg. By 6 miles he was walking thinking there was something wrong. . . . .
