Bangsawan is a passion project from a few Temasek Polytechnic students currently pursuing a diploma in Digital Film and Television.
It is film about Alina, a theatre student shrouded by inner trauma and insecurity, struggles in her Bangsawan production. She refuses to seek help from her grandmother, a theatre veteran, versed in the ways of Bangsawan. Because of this, it puts tension on her relationships with her cast mates and her best friend.
Whilst this happens, Alina's grandmother soon discovers that her old age has finally caught up to her. Her body no longer as strong as it used to be and she progressively gets weaker, but decides not to tell Alina.
With this film, we hope to celebrate the Malay culture through its arts, and to embrace differences amongst our diverse culture and to convey the idea that it's alright to lean on someone as a pillar of support during times of hardship, and we are not alone.
All funds raised will go into paying cast, food, location fees, props and transport used in making the film :)
Any amount donated to help us with the film would be great and we greatly appreciate all and any support shown! <3 Thank you very much in advance for supporting Bangsawan! :)
