Balls to Cancer – Running Team – Couch Potato to Bolton Marathon!

Balls to Cancer was set up last year as an annual social charity fundraising event to raise funds on behalf of Bolton Hospice who provide care for people with terminal or life-limiting illnesses. They care for patients throughout their illness, helping to improve their wellbeing and quality of life. They also provide compassionate, dedicated and dignified care for patients at the end of their life.

For next years event we have created a running team with the majority of current members only just starting out running but we have a mixed level of members from Couch potato to Ironman.

Our ultimate goal is to train our way up to a marathon distance and take part in the Bolton Marathon which is taking place on May 17th 2020 for the first time since the 1980's.

To build up to this marathon which is a very tough course we will be taking part in various distance events over the next 8 months: -

5K - Bolton parkruns (takes place every Saturday @ Leverhulme park)

10K - Blackburn 10K - 17th November 2019 - Ewood Park

Half Marathon - Blackpool - 16th February 2020 - North Prominade

Marathon - Bolton Marathon - 17th May 2020 - Queens Park

The running team is open for anyone to join - we just want to raise as much money as we can for a fantastic cause.

I will give updates and profile of our members and acheivments on our journey.

We have a messaging group set up where we are organising training runs and sharing our Strava activities for motivation.
