My name is Natalie Lui and I am currently 16 years old. My dream is to become a professional dancer. I currently train at the Richmond Academy of Dance in Richmond, BC. Every week I train for 25-30 hours in preparation for performances and competitions.
Last year, I was chosen by the Chilliwack Lions Club Festival to represent them at the BC Ballet performing arts provincials. These provincials gather many of the best dancers from across BC in a big competition. After a whole week of classes and performances, I was chosen to be in the top 3 and in the final performance became the runner up. This year, I am privileged to be chosen by the Pacific West festival to be there senior representive for provincials this year held in Penticton.
In early February, I travelled to San Francisco, CA to take part in one of the world's largest student ballet competition, the Youth America Grand Prix. Many talented students from around the country participated in this competition. In the end, I was chosen as one of the top 24 dancers out of hundreds of talented dancers.
For many young dancers’ hoping to pursue a career as a professional dancer, many seek top notch ballet schools to enroll to for the duration of their summer break. This year, I auditioned for Ellison Ballet, based in New York City, and has been very privileged to be 1 out of the 100 girls that are accepted each year around the world. This ballet school provides me with many amazing opportunities. For example, working with very experienced teachers and choreographers from around the world. Also, what better way to study the art of ballet than in New York City!
I set up this donation page to help my parents with the cost of this summer intensive in New York. This cost includes, tuition, residence, and food. If you would like to donate to me directly and not go through online payment you can email me at [email protected] or message me on facebook and I will give you my address. I really hope you can help me achieve my dream of studying ballet in New York this summer and thank you for taking the time to read this.
