Next year, I am going to Bali for three weeks. I'm going with a group of people who will most likely be older than me and who I will never have met. This is with an organisation called Plan my Gap Year. They offer many projects ranging from conservation projects to medicine and public health projects. You can go from 1 week to 24 weeks.
In Bali, I will be helping children from the ages of 4-9 learn English and visiting local schools and nurseries. Throughout the day, we will visit various places and at the weekends you have the chance to go on smaller trips around Bali and small surrounding islands like the Gili Islands.
During the trip I will stay in a volunteer house with people from all over the world doing the same project as me. We stay in Tabanan which is known as the 'rice bowl' of Bali as it is full of rice paddies among the steep hills. During our stay in Bali, we eat local cuisine and we get to experience how different life is for local villagers compared to us!
I've decided to go to Bali to gain independence and to experience a once in a lifetime opportunity. I also hope I will meet some really nice people in Bali who will be apart of my team. I hope travelling on my own to Bali, will help me gain confidence as I will have to be independent to get the two connecting flights to Bali.
It would mean so much to me, if you could please donate a small amount to help me to be able to go on this trip!!
