Campaign Story
I had been a carpenter for nearly 10 years and being self employed always had its ups and downs, but unfortunately, work dried up completely. My girlfriend suggested I moved to the city where she lived, to find work, which i did, GREAT! but the work i found wasn't in woodworking (my passion), it was in security, as a security guard, nothing wrong with the job, but its not what I love.
a few years rolled by, seven to be exact, wow how time flies!
We had a little girl, Chloe, amazing she is hahaha. but as you can expect, babies aren't cheap. I started making bespoke items again a few months back, nothing big or fortune making, but my passion for carpentry came back.
I'm still working 12 hour days and nights as a security guard, and when I get home, I spend some time with my girlfriend (now wife) and baby Chloe, I get a couple hours sleep and then I'm up and off to the shed to create. the shed i'm working in is 7 foot x 7 foot and is now leaking, I get frustrated, but I remind myself that we live in England and it rains a lot hahaha, you have to laugh.... a lot.
I recently set up an Etsy store under the company name of BadpennyWoodcraft, why Badpenny you ask? i love the name, and it seemed like a name that stood out from the crowd. I uploaded my first item the beginning of Nov 2016 and have had a lot of interest on Etsy and from family and friends, "thumbs up". I've been commissioned by a few people to make bespoke furniture, but unfortunately I've had to turn them down as i just don't have the space or equipment to make what they want, its very frustrating, its a vicious circle, can't afford to buy the space or equipment for the furniture i know i can make to raise the funds to buy the space and equipment.
So I thought to myself, how can i make this passion into a full time job again??? Someone suggested to me to have a go at crowdfunding, I've never asked anyone for a handout and thought, no, that's not for me, and then i thought, "but this company, BadpennyWoodcraft, would make our lives so much better"
So here I am, asking you good people, asking for a small donation so i can buy equipment and a bigger work space, so I can create and make our lives better.
Thank you for your time, and maybe, one day, if Badpenny is successful, i can come back to gogetfunding.com and return the favor and help someone else fulfill their dream.
