The Gloucestershire Badger Office has been in operation for 2 years now, keeping an overview of the situation in Gloucestershire whilst the badger culls have been ongoing. Setting up days to introduce people into the zone and share skills, sharing sett-surveying tips and information online and in person and, of course, being there at the end of the phone when someone comes into the zone looking for a role, has come across shooters or injured animals, needs information or needs to pass on some.
In the first year, the people on the end of the phone (also out in the fields) received and made more than 300 hours worth of calls and 20,000 text messages were sent and received. Whilst it was somewhat quieter in the second year, costs of printing information sheets, maps and legal information, spending phone credit and getting out there ourselves to ensure information gets to the right people still added up.
If you know anyone who can help us out financially so we can help you out practically, please pass on this link. The government think they can do what they want, but remember how much of an impact a small group of us can have! See you in the zone!
