Backpack Of Hope Project is a community fundraiser for kids ages 5-9 years old which aims to support their educational needs during this time of COVID-19 pandemic.
Schools in the Philippines are about to open few months from now, yet many kids going back to school are still unequipped with school supplies they will be needing for education. They are the kids coming from poorest families in the Philippines who have been the ones being largely affected by this outbreak because they doesn't have any source of income. With this project, we aim to provide them with a backpack which contains basic school supplies and hygiene materials that they will be needing for school. Also, we aim to help them face boredom and cope up with the stress of COVID-19 through books and toys that they can read or play. Backpack of Hope Project aims to support 100 kids from the Philippines, particularly those from the province of Quezon. Our goal with this project is to collect $500 worth of donation before July 18, 2020 so we can give them their HOPE bags before the school starts on August.
The collected funds will be used to buy backpacks which contains school supplies like notebook, pencil, crayons, facemask, hand sanitizer, gloves, story books and coloring books.
Why i want to help them using this fundraiser?
Recently, the coronavirus outbreak has caused major disruptions to daily life and children are feeling these changes deeply. There's fear, worry, and stress of contracting the virus that brought changes to children's daily living and brought restriction to their movements to contain and slow down the spread of the virus. For adults, they are faced with new realities of working from home, temporary unemployment, and lack of physical contact with other family members, friends and colleagues. While for children, they are faced with new realities of home-schooling, virtual gaming, and lack of opportunity to make contacts with their friends and classmates. Today, it is so important for them to know how to adapt with the changes and look after their mental health, as well as our physical health. Also, kids should know that they shouldn't be sad and afraid of their future because there are people who can help them reach their dreams.
