Campaign Story
My name is Kudakwashe Mazhetese a Young African Leadership Institute Fellow and TEDx organizer. My passion is to see Africa working together for growth. I have noted that there is unhealthy tension among Africans so I organised myself to backpack through the continent. This is to get a better understanding of how other countries treat foreigners who enter their borders by bus. So I have identified families to visit in Tanzania, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Mozambique, Malawi, Congo, and Ghana where I will share with them for a week each getting to know them, engage in the difficult conversations about unity as Africans especially relating to the state of xenophobia. This is aimed to then spark a discussion and try get rid of the elephant in the room.
I saw it worthy to bootstrap this backpacking experience as most speakers on this topic will be scholars and professors. I intentionally want to bring back a perspective and try look at this from outside the borders in which it is most prevalent. The money raised in this campaign will be used to fund the trip from bus tickets, flight fares, accommodation, food and other expenses. I hope you may join the fight to end xenophobia and unite Africa!
If you donate your name will be added to the many canvases that will be sent to all universities in Africa as a sign of peace harmony and renaissance from the African people to fellow Africans!
