Baby Rafael, Our Little Fighter

Our baby who is now 29 days old is knocking on your good hearts for some help in his stay at Neonatal Intensive Care Unit due to Pneumothorax secondary to Thicked Meconium Aspiration which caused his right lung to collapse when he was born.

Rafael is our first baby. During my pregnancy, I had a low level of amniotic fluid and had experienced a preterm labor which put him in danger but has been resolved. On the 26th of August 2019, I was brought to the hospital as I am having regular contractions but my cervix is opened just about 1cm. Later in the evening, the pain is getting worst and unbearable until I felt that my water bag burst. The midwife assessed me and told me that my baby already passed stool inside which is dangerous. They immediately informed my OB and I was scheduled for an emergency CS. Our baby came out unresponsive and they revived him immediately. He was intubated and hooked on a mechanical ventilator. A chest tube was also inserted on his right side since his right lung collapsed due to meconium aspiration and had pneumothorax.

Until now Baby Rafael is still in NICU and continuously fighting his battle. We humbly asked you to include him in your prayers. We are also currently trying to raise funds to support his medical expenses as his running bill already reached one million pesos (around 20,000 USD).
