is an extreme tragedy to inform you that our colleague and friend, David Fider, suddenly lost his 21 month old daughter Melody last week to meningitis. Melody was a beautiful, happy, cheeky toddler and contracted an aggressive strain of meningitis which tragically took her from her family within a matter of hours.
This sudden loss has devastated the family and close friends and even though we can offer support both emotionally and physically I feel there is more we can do to help.
David relocated to Canada from the UK with his family and Melody was born here in summer 2012. It is the family’s wish to have Melody buried on a family grave plot in Essex, England. The cost of having her flown back to the UK and buried are extortionate and insurance only covers a small fraction of the costs.
We are setting up a fund so that we can help with the cost of having Melody buried in Essex, England.
We are also organizing a fund raising night on Friday 13th June 2014 at Kelly's Pub on 104th Street in downtown Edmonton so please donate through this website and also bring friends and family to raise as much money as we can for David, Melinda and Gabriel.
The Baby Melody Funeral Fund will coincide with "Happy Hour" drink specials, and will also include a Silent Auction for items donated from local businesses which have graciously given to this wonderful cause.
Please support me in helping ease the burden of the funeral costs by contributing to the fund, as I’m sure, just as I do you feel completely helpless as we cannot take away the pain of what losing a child brings but we can help with the financial burden this will have on David and his family in the years to come.
