Mavis Adaline is my beautiful, brave niece. She is in need of our help to save her heart. This is her story as written by her parents.

"They say that a smile is the distance between two people. For us, it was our inspiration to do what it takes. A Celebration of Life. This our story of Mavis Adaline. Our First.Mavis Adaline Villamor, She did not give mommy a hard time as she gave mommy 2hrs of labor. She did as well cry without being asked to. She looked for mommy the moment she opened her eyes. She was beautiful. She weighed 5.5lbs. and was cuddled to her spot in the nursery. We were relieved as everything went without a hitch. And so we thought. The next few days were a blur. Honestly we could not recall how we really got through those days. Our Pedia met us and told us our baby’s condition. Initial diagnosis were just crippling. Basically she had multiple anomalies in her heart. (Complete AV Septal Defect, Pulmonary Atresia, Single Ventricle, Vertical PDA) We were being told “she might not make it” “room her in and spend time with her” We were just Broken. Lost. Devasted. Could not understand why this could have happened. But still we prayed, prayed and prayed. Called our families, loved ones, friends. Just anybody. Believe me without our families, relatives, loved ones and friends reaching out to us, we could have not got through this ordeal. So we brought her in, we baptised her, and brought her home. And as first time parents did what any parent would do. That is to give her utmost care and attention. Despite her condition it did not impede nor stop us from giving her what she deserves. We always looked forward to visits with the Pedia and never thought of anything else but her growth. And so hours became days and days became months. She was what my close buddies would say “Even in these modern times, MIRACLE’S still do happen”. She GREW! Thanks to prayers all over the world. It took us some courage to get a second opinion. This time in Manila hoping to get news of improvement since she grew. However, that wasn’t the case. Same findings. She has a complex and unique condition. For some reason we were back to what was what we felt was gone, Lost. The Doctor specialist that we had met said “she would have to undergo multiple surgeries but has to be monitored closely“ At this point it has become more frustrating and caused fear of losing but still something we had to make a decision on. So we tried our chances by seeking help from overseas. As we have heard good stories of hope. But sadly we were just denied. Just when we thought we were just losing again.God again gave us just another hint that this isn’t it yet. We found a support group that gave us the courage and hope for our daughter.Let it Echo.We want her not just to survive but to LIVE to experience life how she is suppose to. We would like to reach out to your kind hearts to please help us in her future surgeries. Your help will go a long way and enrich others as well who may have lost hope in their fight too with Congenital Heart Disease. And by the way, she is now 4 months old and counting…
