Baby Heaven Audrina’s Open Heart Surgery

Hello everyone. This is the first time that I'll be posting this kind of stuff.

My niece was born on June 10, 2015. We are all excited for her birth. She is my first niece, the first granddaughter of her grandparents, the first child of my sister and she is the first in our family to have this battle.

She has this cute lips that when she pouts she looks sooo cute. She has this sweet cry that sounds like a cat's meow. But seriously, I don't want to hear her cry anymore or any in my family. Seeing my mom and sister cried breaks my heart into million pieces.

My niece, Heaven Audrina, who is 2 months old needs to undergo an open heart surgery for her truncus. Truncus is a rare congenital heart disease that mix the blue (without oxygen) and red (oxygen-rich) blood.

The first time that we sent my niece to the hospital, the doctors said that she had pneumonia but upon her 2DEcho the doctors found out that she also has a Truncus Arteriosus Type 2. However, the doctors couldn't operate on her if she has pneumonia. The doctors treated her pneumonia for a month. She stayed in the PICU for almost 2 weeks and was discharged but then transferred to Philippine Heart Center.

My niece is now confined to the Philippine Heart Center to prepare her for the operation. Her doctors said that there will be a 50-50 chance for the operation. The doctors asked us to avoid making her cry.

It breaks our heart whenever we hear her whimper when the doctors needs to get blood sample on her. They are finding it hard to get blood sample due to her small veins. They will like stick injections on her for 6-10 times before they find a vein. She will cry at first but eventually we can only hear only a whimper when she's exhausted.

We keep on praying that she will have the strength to fight this battle. She fought pneumonia and we know that she can also fight this through.

I know that she will be also the first in our family to defeat this battle.
