Our family is going through a tough time right now as our youngest "Ehli" (1 year and 6 months old)is diagnosed with Kawasaki disease and is still under observation. Kawasaki disease usually affects children below 5 and causes swelling (inflammation) in the walls of medium-sized arteries throughout the body. The inflammation tends to affect the coronary arteries, which supply blood to the heart muscle.
It all started when we just thought it was a simple fever but on the 3rd day, she has gotten worst and had rashes covering her whole face, body, hands, and feet. she also experienced a seizure-like episode which prompted us to rush her to the emergency room around 5am.
We were advised to have her confined and be placed under observation since they were unable to completely identify at first what is the cause and wanted to rule out similar symptoms fever, rashes, sore throat.
Our family is knocking on anyone the could spare anything to help us with the medical expenses right now as the treatment for Kawasaki disease is not cheap and including all the diagnostic test that had to be done including getting swabbed for covid as one of the started SOP for hospitals admitting covid like symptoms.
IVIG cost around anywhere between 15,000 - 22,500 per vial of 100ml (she needed 600ml) depending on the patient's weight. And hopefully will be enough else will have another session of vials to be given.
Other expenses are supportive and numerous tests conducted to confirm that it is Kawasaki disease. Possible lifetime maintenance heart test and check-up.
Our family will be grateful for any amount which will help us go through with her medication and including healing prayers for our Ehli to pass through this early episode of her life. Asking for prayers and how small the amount will definitely help us right now.
