Sara Ena’s Help Fund

Dear community, my name is Kelsang Chokyi , I’m a Buddhist nun and I would like to ask for your support for a very dear friend of the Sangha (Buddhist community) who has been going through very difficult times for several years due to the health of her mother. . She is a very positive, cheerful woman and always helps anyone who needs it. Today I would like to ask you to support her in fulfilling her dream of keeping her mother with the best possible quality of life.

Sara Ena (her mother) is a 69-year-old woman who was diagnosed with Parkinson's 10 years ago due to a car accident that she had at 3 years of age where she had suffered an injury to her brain. Because of this accident she had to relearn to speak and walk again, even though she could do it before this. This caused an accelerated brain deterioration resulting in this atypical Parkinson's disease among other brain injuries. In spite of all this, she was always a very active, independent woman, concerned about helping others, generous, professional, an excellent mother, sister, friend. A woman full of life, enthusiasm and positivity. In the past four years her health has been increasingly deteriorating physically (tremors, stiffness, problems to walk), cognitive (problems communicating, reasoning, solving problems), mental (visual and auditory hallucinations) and emotional (episodes of stress , anxiety, feelings of loneliness) so she had to stop working and depend on others for all her activities. In February 2020 she stopped talking and walking until she was totally stiff. After an MRI it was discovered that the problem was being caused by two blood clots, one on each side of the brain, she received a surgery on March 17 of which she is recovering successfully.

During all this time her daughter Sarita has worked hard to give her the best quality of life, a loving company and the necessary care, having, most of the time, to take her mom to work and appointments because she does not have someone to take care of her when she is not at home.

Due to the demand for attention and support required after the surgery and because she does not have the necessary physical constitution (she is 4’6’’ tall making it impossible to carry or to move a taller body in any way), Sarita found it necessary to hire professional caregivers to support her in picking her up, bathing, dressing, feeding, providing medicines, going up and down the stairs, taking for a walk, transferring and accompanying her. Due to all the expenses incurred, as a result of the surgery, the care giving, medicines and transportation costs, Sara had to use all her money and her mom’s life savings. Now they are in a very bad financial condition. Sara has received financial support from her dad and aunt but this is not enough to cover her monthly expenses, which are 2,100 USD (40,000.00 MXP) per month.

I’m asking for your help to support this goal and through our generosity make 2021 less of a burden for Sarita and her mother. With your kind contributions, caregivers, medicines, diapers and other personal needs will be paid.
