On July 6, tomorrow, 7:00 in the morning, our dear sister Ayi Prejola Singson will be undergoing an operation called Tracheostomy meant to create an opening on the neck leading directly to the breathing tube, Trachea.

She was intubated for quite some time now and it would be too risky if the intubation continues until she could breathe on her own.

Intubation is the process of inserting a tube called an Endotracheal Tube (ET), through the mouth and then into the airway. This is done so that a patient can be placed on a ventilator to assist with breathing during anesthesia, sedation, or severe illness.

According to her doctors, there would be high chances of getting infections (which she did, 2nd time to have pneumonia in a month), if she continues to be intubated for more than 14 days.

Prior to having Tracheostomy, she needs to be cleared with all the doctors and surgeon who continuously monitor her heart, brain, lungs, and cancer as her body stays weak in the ICU.

But God is great, she has been stable for the past days and we got all the clearances that we need.

Ate is a fighter. She had 2 episodes of cardiace arrests on June 12 and June 26. Her first was when she got intubated and next was when they had to replace the tube as she started to bite the ETT, occluding airflow.

As they replace the ETT with a Tracheal Tube, our prayer is for our Ate to continue fighting this battle as there had been history of arrests. Our prayer is for the Lord our Savior to touch her heart, teach her heart to be strong and prevent another episode of cardiac arrest. Our prayer is for the Lord our Healer to touch and hold the doctors' hands, minds and bodies as they do the procedure. Our prayer is for the Lord our God to be with my Ate as she earnestly hold on to her faith and His promises.

As she face one of her hardest battles, we are asking for your help as we pray for our Ate's successful operation.

We lift this to you our Lord, our only savior, provider and healer. ☝️🙏🙏☝️

Got the chance to witness GREAT blessings from God today!

CTP (draining tube) from her lungs to extract fluid was removed. She has a normal heart rate this time. The doctors are applying the process of gradually withdrawing ventilatory support and Ate Ayi was able to breathe on her own while receiving minimal to no ventilator support.

No other words but THANK YOU, LORD for these wonderful blessings!!! 🙏🙏🙏

To ALL of you, MARAMING MARAMING SALAMAT po sa patuloy na pagdarasal para sa ating mahal na si Ayi. 😊😊😊

Looking forward to seeing Ate Ayi's smile again! 😊😊

Update: Last Wednesday, June 17th, we had a conference call with all of Ate Ayi’s doctors, summarizing and discussing her case. Her pulmo doctor said that he had her Xray and the result was not good. Majority of the left lung is white which means there’s no air coming in, left lung is not functioning. So they did a couple of tests on her i.e CT angiogram and bronchoscopy to check if there’s any blockage that causes her airway constriction. Her angio results were good, no blockage, it’s clear. The bronchoscopy tho was not good. The doctor couldn’t go anymore further (til carina) because it’s already blocked either by the cancer cells or can be nodules. Currently she’s given palliative care and her treatment for her CA, is put on halt. Her body is still weak to receive chemotherapy. Then considering all the tubes connected to her, it will be hard to put her under radiation, that’s why it is not possible as well. Lobectomy is not an option right now cuz she’s still weak. They are suggesting immunotherapy, but it’s quite expensive, hence the update on our goal amount but God will provide. He touched your hearts to share your blessings, He will touch more hearts to help Ate Ayi get the best treatment for the CA. She needs to recover from respiratory failure and gain back her strength for her to be able to proceed with the necessary treatments.

June 20th, as per my bro-in-law’s request which eventually got approved by her doctors, she was transferred from ICU to a private room. Praise God! With that, we had to sign a DNR form (which you can waive on the event— if something happens) and get a bedside nurse or PDN to monitor her 24/7 since she’s still on ventilator. We got to visit her yesterday morning and we’re happy to see her smiling, crying, following our gaze. I am so happy that when I held her hand, she squeezed it while looking at me. This is a good sign. She reacted with a wide smile when we tell stories about her kids, she listened when we were streaming the CCF Sunday Message with Ptr. Peter. Praise God for her good signs! We met most of her doctors personally, and all we heard was good news. Her onco even said she’s more responsive now than when she was in ICU. Her neuro also said good things, and that one of her meds will be shifted from IV to tablet

God is all powerful! My sister is fighting, therefore we should fight with her too. Our greatest weapon is PRAYERS. Prayers can move mountains!

May we ask you to pray with us that Ate Ayi will be able to breath on her own and that she will regain her strength for her to proceed and get the necessary treatments.
