The Central American Film Festival (CAFF) is turning 10 this year! Organized by Papaya Media Association, the festival will take place from 18 to 24 November, 2018 in Vienna, Austria. To make it extra special, we want to close the X. Central American Film Festival with an unforgettable party that will be the talk of the town, where the Viewers' Choice awards will be handed out to the winning films of the festival. However, we need your support to make this a reality, since we need money to pay the musicians who will be playing live music, cover organizational costs and provide catering for our guests.
History of the Central American Film Festival
The first Central American Film Festival (Mittelamerikanisches Film Festival in German) launched in November 2007 in Vienna, Austria.
Its main objectives are to promote the production and distribution of quality audiovisual work made in Central America, as well as provide a platform for exchange between the artists of the Central American region and Europe.
Who is behind the Central American Film Festival?
Papaya Media Association is a non-profit organization which promotes the cultural exchange between the South and the North.
Its objectives are the fight against ethnical, religious and sexual discrimination as well as the promotion of a peaceful human life in balance with nature.
Activities include communication projects and the use of audiovisual means such as radio, cinema, video, internet, etc. Our key event is the Central American Film Festival, which shows productions that often lack the funds to participate in bigger film festivals. However, these films deal with issues that are important to us, such as human rights, gender equality, the environment and indigenous issues.
Why should you support us?
CAFF is unique because it has been organized and operated solely by volunteers for over a decade. With its diverse offering of film, music and regional cuisine, the festival is very popular among the public. However, every year it is a challenge for us to plan and implement this project without a fixed income stream.
With your donation, we want to have a celebration that will honor the filmmakers who often struggle to complete their productions within a tight budget, as well as the volunteers who work hard every year to make the film festival a reality.
Any amount is welcome, but if you donate 25 Euro or more, you will get a THANK YOU mention in all our media (website, FB page, Instagram, etc.).
All donations will go to Miguel Barrera, the association's treasurer. Miguel is accepting the funds on behalf of Papaya Media Association.
