Awakening technical ability for People with Special Needs (PWSN)

"On Job Technical Training for Self Employment"

We are raising this money to help create employment to Youth, Disabled people and other groups with special needs such as street children and Orphans. We want to create an On-Job Technical Training center where the needy group will get enrolled and acquire technical skills while paid certain amount of stipends to meet basic needs.

Tanzania host a population of about 55 million people of whom majority are rural residents and do not have reliable income sources. Employment availability is a big problem to majority of youth in the country. This has been contributed by lack of technical skills to employ them in income generating activities (IGA). However, there are those who attend normal schools at ordinary or university level are after collar jobs which are difficult to get. Educational schools/Institutions do not offer sufficient technical skills for people explore and employ them in other income generating activities (IGA) instead depends on employment from third parties. People with special needs are somehow forgotten in accessing technical training for self employment. Therefore, this group suffer more of unemployment problem, where majority become beggars in town, cities, streets, road ways and adds family burden.

Most of PWSN have something to do with their talents, but are not enabled with technical knowledge to use their talents in income generation for supporting them and contribute to household income. In the country, there are limited number of inclusive technical centers, and those available are expensive and do not have inclusive learning facilities to accommodate needs of all groups of people especially those with special requirements. Therefore, a need exist to help people with special needs (PWSN) get technical skills for them become self reliant and contribute to family and country economy.

The country strategy is to attain Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through Inclusive industrialization economy. Thus, it is a time to ensure all people are reached with technical education in formal and informal training centers. Likewise, technical skills to be offered will;

  1. Decrease number of dependents at home and national level
  2. Strengthen Social-Economic Inclusion among household members and
  3. Increase percentage of productive manpower in the country

TRAINING MODEL

Training will be offered under On Job Training model, where people enrolled will be trained while paid some stipends to help get some of basic needs. While on training will be involved in making some products that will be sold on available markets to enable cover some of running cost and enable them obtain more practical knowledge and skills. Actually, other training programs such as eco-entrepreneurship and customer experience will be offered to enable them live the competitive business market.

SUSTAINABILITY PLAN

We anticipate to create a community which is self reliant, by establishing an inclusive training center that will offer cross-cutting short technical courses to street children, people with special needs, Unemployed young men and ladies(girls), and graduates who want technical skills for self employment. Likewise, the "On Job Training model" will enable manage raise income by selling products made at our center. Also, the model will have positive support from communities and other stakeholders with good wishes in combating unemployment problem in the country, especially the system of empowering people with special needs "The disabled people".
