Campaign Story
The charity ‘Avoca’ (A Voice of Central Americans)
works to support projects amongst several poor communities in the capital city of the tiny Central American country of El Salvador. For eight years now, the charity has run a project working alongside El Salvadoran coaches teaching soccer skills to children and also mentoring young people and adults to
either become coaches or improve their knowledge of soccer. The aim of the
project is to give young people an alternative focus away from gang
led lives reinforcing the importance of making positive life choices.
This year will see a group of volunteers travel from the UK and USA to team up with four Salvadoran communities in Soyapango - El Pepeto, Montes 3, San Jose 3 and Tres Enero - to deliver the project. The average monthly wage in these communites is approximately £560/$400. This means that many everyday things including sports equipment is out of the reach of many people. We aim to ensure that every child receives a t-shirt and a pair of football boots and each community receives 40 footballs. There are two ways to support this year's fundraising effort -
1. a straight donation to buy a t-shirt (£5/$7), a football (£10/$14) or a pair of football boots (£25/$35) or
2. on 10 March 2017 at 10pm, our amazing volunteers across the world will be running a 10km and you can show your support by sponsoring them.
Thanks for your support! Gracias y Benediciones!
