Purpose of Bright Futures Uganda:
This organization aims to improve the Rumbugu community by creating opportunities for learning.
Purpose of this Fundraiser:
This project will provide the educators of Rumbugu Primary School with 40% of the total earnings, 20% used to improve education by introducing new materials and devices to the students, and the last 40% will go to the families of the students.
Background information regarding the school that will receive the funds stated by Lilian Kamusiime, a contributing community member: The school is two hours away from the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. It is located in East Africa, Uganda, within the Southwestern region. The school structure runs on the government support of a Headmaster, the head of the school, the deputy, and 11 other teachers.
Rumbugu Primary School is a government-aided school in partnership with the community, and the whole school has a population of 553. The educators are Primary Trained teachers that have trained for 3 years in a teacher training college and others are volunteers from the community that have completed Senior 4 at least. The school is a primary school for all ages above 3. Primary education in 1997 was drastically affected when it was announced that every child must have free education. Rumbugu Primary School is among the schools that are called UPE schools, with only the basics of education and no excellent environment for children to excel academically. Amidst all this, these schools have great opportunities for poor kids to grow and excel in many fields such as games and sports, as they may fail academically. The school motto, “In Education, We Invest”, is what everyone works towards.
Improving the Quality of Education at Rumbugu Primary:
Provide: Printer, books, pens, pencils, tablets, computers with equipment, internet, funds to students' families, & planting project.
Omutima Project:
The Omutima Project in Uganda is a community-based organization to support the children of Rumbugu Primary School and any other schools that can support the education of students. It is in association to Bright Futures Uganda.
Relation of Tree Planting Project to Ugandan Education:
Ms. Lilian and I are both conservationists, and we both know that the upcoming generation is the only chance to heal our environment. “Four years ago, the Omutima Project based in Uganda started giving tree seedlings to the kids at school to develop their passion for the environment. It has been a success and the children have developed their love for tree planting” (Lilian Kamusiime). Since September 2022, more than 4000 seedlings were given to the kids and teachers of Rumbugu.
