Australia: People to People Ambassador Pgm

About me:

I am Brittany Ramirez, 16 years old going on 17 come Valentines Day.  I am currently in 11^th grade and may possibly be graduating early due to my hard work and accomplishments over the last two years.  I am very enthusiastic to say that my teachers and counselor have recognized that I want to do better in my life and have thus nominated me for this ambassador program.  One reason for wanting to do better in school is because I want to be able to help my dad who is considered legally blind.  I know that this experience will help me to experience different cultures, explore the nature and open up my mind to things I would not normally experience.

Program History:

People to People (http://peopletopeople.com/our-programs/student-ambassadors) is a program that President Dwight D. Eisenhower began in 1956 as a peaceful solution in our war-filled world. His vision was to give everyday citizens in different countries opportunities to get to know each other and give the opportunity to look at the world, its people, and international events differently. People to People Ambassador Programs are meant to break down cultural barriers by providing travel opportunities for student delegates, led by experienced teachers. And with your help I will get to have this amazing once in a life experience to see a completely different world from my own.

THINGS I WILL EXPERIENCE:

I will be experiencing the Australian life style by snorkeling the sparkling waters of the Great Barrier Reef (the thing I’m looking forward to the most). I will enjoy a daily Australian life during a stay on a working farm in Townsville. I will also assist marine biologists with a dolphin research program developed specifically for Student Ambassadors and Soar down sand dunes on a toboggan all on Moreton Island. And in Sydney’s Blue Mountains I will Abseil 180ft down a cliff face, and these are just some of the experiences I will get to experience.

PLACES I WILL GO:
In Australia I will go to Cairns where I will get to see the beautiful clear waters, Sydney where I’ll take a swing at cricket on the Sydney Cricket Ground, Townsville where I will attend an official briefing with a local government representative and Moreton Island. These are only a few of the sites I will see.

THINGS I WANT TO BRING BACK:
The most important thing that I want to bring back with me is the life long memories that I will make and will never forget. As a unique combination of education and adventure I will use the knowledge that I learn on this once in a life time opportunity throughout my life and the decisions I will make in the future.

HOW THIS AFFECTS MY FUTURE:

As a Student Ambassador I have an 80% or more chance to getting into a college of my choice. This is not only a once in a lifetime opportunity for me, but it will also open the gates to a more successful life.  I look forward to being able to put this ambassador experience on my resume when applying for jobs when I am older. I hope to have your support to make my dreams come true and change my life forever.
