I am Raquel, mom of Austin Kyrie who was born prematurely last September 2, 2021.

Last September 1, 2021, I woke up at 6am with continuous vaginal bleeding. My husband rushed me to the emergency hospital and was admitted for monitoring as I have contractions already. However, due to placenta previa, continuous bleeding and contractions, I undergone emergency caesarian section last September 2.

My baby was only 30 weeks of gestation when he was born. He was incubated and intubated immediately after birth and was put in mechanical ventilator due to respiratory distress syndrome. The following days in NICU was a roller coaster ride for us. He also had jaundice, neonatal sepsis (blood infection) and neonatal pneumonia all at the same time. These bacteria caused his hemoglobin and platelet count to went down. Kyrie undergone several blood transfusion and different antibiotics administered thru IV, but because of his tiny veins, his arms and legs are full of bruises. He also undergone venous cutdown on his neck for easy administration of antibiotics and IV fluids. He was extubated after 3 weeks and started his feeding thru a tube (OGT). However, everytime they will increase his feeding, his abdomen will get distended. They will stop the feeding, examine thru xray and blood test and resume after how many days. Because of this, his birthweight went down as well.

Our little one is fighting for his life everyday. As parents, it is heartbreaking for us to see how he is suffering inside that incubator. We are physically, emotionally, spiritually and financially exhausted. We are now on our 8th week in NICU and his recent blood culture showed Klebsiella infection. He is back to being intubated and series of lab test has to be done, including blood transfusion. Up to this point, we don’t know when we will be going home. Seems that we are back to square one. Our hospital bill is increasing and our savings and emergency fund has been depleted. We are humbly requesting for your assistance to help us in our journey. Please pray also for the complete healing of our little warrior.

Thank you for your generosity. May God return the blessing that you shared a hundredfold.
