Auschwitz Internship

Hello to my family and friends!

As some might know, I intend to go to Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum, the largest concentration camp museum in the world, for a three months volunteer work in the educational sector this summer. Recently I have received the wonderful news that I had been accepted! The Musuem holds special importance to me, especially to my academic research and passion in Holocaust studies, as it is one of the most significant Holocaust sites during the Second World War. Being able to work there would be a dream for me to further accelerate my research and further ignite my passion in the topic. It excites me to be possibly the first Singaporean to ever work in this camp and do research on this field.

My love for history aside, I have another reason for wanting to do this, as I would like to further spread awareness on the Holocaust across the world. Using my research, I seek to make the world a better place by highlighting the horrors which were conducted before, and preventing it from happening again. As a Singaporean, the issue may seem so far away from home, both physically and emotionally. However, I feel that it is not about the context that is most important, but rather the lessons we learn from that chapter of history. History has shown that such catastrophes can happen again in another time under another context.

However, given that this is voluntary work and not paid for by the Museum (except for subsidised accomodations), prompted me to start this fundraiser. I hope to offset some of the costs of the round-trip air tickets. Every little cent would go forward to help me with managing the costs (transport and accomodations.) I sincerely appreciate your help, regardless of how we are related or where you are right now.
