Atlantic Beach Cares is group of local citizens trying to help retain the residential character of Old Atlantic Beach and create public awareness around the negative impact and all the dangers of a proposed 24x7 Gate mega-gas station to the local community.
All Atlantic Beach citizens will suffer the effects of this project. It will create visual blight close to the City's Town Center. Those citizens who live in the SaltAir subdivision behind this mega gas station will suffer the most. Consequences include; loss of property value, safety and health concerns as well as quality of life issues. The Atlantic Beach Charter and the Land Use Regulations state in discussing Permitted Uses, “Such uses shall not include…uses that have the potential for negative impacts to surrounding neighborhoods…” Please, help us to encourage our City Commission to uphold the Atlantic Beach Charter – to manage redevelopment in a manner which “encourages and maintains a healthy and aesthetically pleasing built environment” and “maintains the City’s distinct residential character.”
Funds will be used for external resources (Technical, Engineering, Environmental, and Legal) to evaluate the Gate proposed site plan and provide detailed information around the impact this will have on the neighborhood and community. Monies will also fund online ads, flyers, signs and other efforts to inform the community and gain additional support.
No donation is too small. Anything from $5, $10, $20 to $100 will help!

Hopefully my small donation will generate other small donations.

I believe that Atlantic Beach citizens, by making their voice heard, can turn this around. We are all in this together!
GATE PERMIT APPROVED
Update posted by Susanne Barker at 03:21 pmOn Tuesday, Atlantic Beach city staff signed off on the preliminary site plans Gate Petroleum had submitted in October 2015. Although this isn't entirely surprising, it is disheartening. There will be an appeals process. Appeals may be made by any affected person(s). All that it takes to file an appeal. . . . .
