Athens Festival of Queer Performance – Fundraising

Το Athens Festival of Queer Performance στοχεύει στην παρουσίαση διαφορετικών ειδών της εγχώριας κουηρ performance σκηνής που ανθίζει σήμερα και στη σύνδεση της με τη διεθνή κουηρ καλλιτεχνική και ακαδημαϊκή σκηνή που ασχολείται με τη ζωντανή και πολυμεσική performance art. Οργανώνεται από μια ομάδα κουηρ ατόμων (καλλιτεχνών, επιμελητών και θεωρητικών) που είναι μέρος της σύγχρονης καλλιτεχνικής σκηνής της Αθήνας και σχετίζονται δημιουργικά τόσο με άλλες queer διοργανώσεις και πρότζεκτς στην Αθήνα όπως το Sound Acts, το Glam Slam και το Queer Ink, όσο και με τα εγχώρια φεμινιστικά κινήματα.

Μας ενδιαφέρει η συνύπαρξη, ο διάλογος και η διερεύνηση των διαφορετικών χώρων που μπορούν να συγκροτήσουν την έννοια μιας περφορμανς (εννοιολογική τέχνη, body art, devised θέατρο, video art, drag show, χορός, μουσικά acts, spoken word κλπ κλπ) και η σύνδεσή τους με το κουηρ, τις φεμινιστικες πρακτικές και θεωρίες, τις κουηρ κοινοτητες και υποκειμενικότητες αλλά και αντικείμενα που τις απασχολούν.

Στα πλαίσια του φεστιβάλ θα γίνουν performances, happenings, ακαδημαϊκές παρουσιάσεις, εργαστήρια και προβολές που θα επικεντρώνονται στις υβριδικές διαστάσεις του κουηρ. Μας ενδιαφέρουν παρουσιάσεις που είναι φορείς προσωπικών ιστοριών και κοινών αφηγήσεων, πολλαπλών αληθειών, υστερίας, αποτυχίας, γελοιότητας, συντροφικότητας, αντι-ουσιοκρατίας και τρέφονται από τη διαθεματικότητα, το ποπ, την πολιτική δράση, το DIY, το κολάζ, το χιούμορ και το τραύμα.

Η παραγωγή του φεστιβάλ βασίζεται οικονομικά αποκλειστικά στην αυτοχρηματοδότησή του χωρίς χορηγίες (μέσα από αυτοοργανωμένα προφεστιβαλικά events οικονομικής ενίσχυσης), καθώς και στην διεθνή καμπάνια fundraising. Τα έσοδα θα διατεθούν στο να στηρίξουν τ@ περφόρμερς και να καλυφτούν τα τεχνικά. Η οργανωτική ομάδα του φεστιβάλ δίνει εθελοντικά τον χρόνο της για την πραγματοποίηση του. Το φεστιβάλ θα συμβεί στις 18,19,20 Οκτωβρίου 2019 στον πολυχώρο Κέντρο Ελέγχου Τηλεοράσεων στην Κυψέλη.

*Για τις προτάσεις εκτός Αθήνας που θα επιλεχθούν θα δημιουργηθεί λίστα φιλοξενίας από φίλες του φεστιβάλ, ενώ η οργανωτική ομάδα θα προτείνει επίσης και άλλους χώρους διαμονής και φιλοξενίας. Το Athens Festival of Queer Performance είναι ενάντια στην επεκτατική πολιτική του AirBnB.

Τα έσοδα θα διατεθούν για :

• την αμοιβή των performers (πιστεύουμε ότι η εργασία πρέπει να αμείβεται),

• τα έξοδα μετακίνησης

• τα τεχνικά έξοδα του φεστιβάλ

• την ενοικίαση των χώρων και του εξοπλισμού.

Athens Festival of Queer Performance aims at presenting different strands of the booming local scene of queer performance, as well as establishing a dialogue with an international array of performers, artists and academics working on live and media performance art. It is organised by a group of queers (artists, curators and theoreticians) who are connected to the contemporary art scene and are related creatively to other queer events and projects in Athens such as the Sound Acts festival, Glam Slam and Queer Ink as well as local queer feminist movements.

We are interested in exploring any co-existence and dialogue between different disciplines that can form a performance (conceptual art, body art, devised theatre, video art, drag show, musical acts, spoken word etc etc) and their connection with queer, feminist practices and theories, queer communities, individuals and their thematics of interest.

In this context, we aim to present performances, happenings, academic presentations, workshops and screenings which focus on the hybrid dimensions of the notion of queer. We are interested in presentations which embody personal stories and common narratives, multiple truths, hysteria, failure, ridiculousness, togetherness, anti-essentialism and are nourished by intersectionality, pop, political action, DIY, collage, humour and trauma.

The festival’s production is exclusively funded by self-organised events and an international online fundraising campaign and without corporate sponsorship. All funds gathered will go towards supporting the performers and to cover the technical set-up. The organisational team of the festival are volunteering their time. The festival will take place on the 18,19,20 of October 2019 at the KET space in Kypseli, Athens.

*For the selected proposals from abroad we will organise solidarity accommodation lists and we will also suggest queer-friendly houses/spaces. The Athens Festival of Queer Performance is against the gentrification waves of AirBnB practices.

Funds will be directed to:

• the performers' salaries

• travel expenses

• the Festival's technical expenses

• renting of spaces and equipment
