At my wit’s end trying to get out of debt

Like many people, I have been struggling to get out of debt for years and am in an endless cycle of paying the minimum payments and then the interest tacking it right back on. I’ve have stopped buying everything for myself except for food and daily necessities. I am trying very hard to clear my debt, yet my debt doesn’t go away.

They say you shouldn’t be putting more than 10% of your income to debt. Well, my minimum payments alone account for 20-30% of my income. I have been paying my student loan since April 2015, and even though I was putting over $500/month towards them at one point, some of them have actually increased from the original loan amount!

My debt totals over $27,000. $7,000 is credit card debt and I cut up my credit cards in August 2017. Student loans make up the most at about $15,000. There’s a few other smaller bills(phone, electricity etc) which run me over $1500/month.

If you’ve ever been where I am and can able to offer a lending hand, I would greatly appreciate it.
