Help with Double Knees Replacement Surgery

My mum needs your help. My mum was diagnosed with severe osteoarthritis in her right and left knees in 2015. After two falls outside our house and on her way to work in 2014, she started expressing severe pains. She used different pain medications the doctor prescribed and even got the infrared light which helps with the swelling and gave her relief of the pains for a little while. But each morning it was difficult to see her struggle with so much pain just to get up from her bed.

It got so bad her legs began to bend at awkwardly, which affected the her spinal cord which brought her much pain. The pain in her right knee began to increase more and more throughout 2015. Driving or walking became unbearable. I could hear my mother groaning in her sleep from my room down the hallway because of the pains she was having.

A family friend referred us to an orthopedic surgeon who after different tests and scans told us that the tendons in my Mum’s knees had wore out and the bones were now eating into each other. He recommended surgery right away to replace her knee caps, which if we didn’t do she would end up in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. We did not have the money for it but we prayed and miraculously, we were able to raise $8300 that was needed for the surgery. The surgery was a success but It was a challenging year in 2016 for the family. She had to learn to walk again and physiotherapy was not cheap either, but we went through it and we were all overjoyed to see the smile return to my mother’s face.

Fast forward to late July 2017. My mum fell again at the mall. She did not see the water on the tiles. She began to experience excruciating pain from the right knee up to her back and down to her ankle. She experienced the increased swelling and horrible pain that no pain medications could even seem to help with. She went back to her doctor.

She has been living with the pain for the past 6 months. Based on the physical examination, it was determined that something was definitely wrong in her knee beyond her fall and arthritis. Scans were done to determine what it was. The doctor noticed that her bones were too brittle and due to this, the metal knee cap which he had put in had started to push through her bones causing her such excruciating pain.

She needs a major surgery again to repair the damaged cartilage and will involve putting four screws and a wire into her knee to bring the bones back together and a knee replacement. She is 65years.

Which brings us here. The surgery will cost $10,000. It is really costly and she has no insurance. My dad is retired and I live from pay check to pay check. We don’t have the funds.

My mum NEEDS this surgery. The pain has become unbearable. It is destroying her quality of life. She can't sleep or walk and the pain is tearing at her mental health
