Campaign Story
On the evening of the 21st of June, Aisia David, a 20 year old college student from the Philippines, felt as if he overworked his body for the day. But when he went to get check up yesterday (June 25), it was not because of stress, rather his nerves are the reason for the pain he is experiencing. He was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS). It is a rare disorder in which a person's own immune system damages their nerve cells, causing muscle weakness and sometimes paralysis if not treated immediately. Most people recover fully from GBS, but some people have long-term nerve damage.
Although GBS is an acute, immune-mediated polyneuropathy, intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) is a proven effective treatment for GBS. However, Aisia needs 9 shots of it per day . Every shot costs 6000 PHP (116.73 USD) and he needs to have this shot for 5 days.
He is currently admitted in East Avenue Medical Center but he isn't given a room yet.
Please help Aisia David be one of those fully recovered people so that he will continue his dream to be a doctor in the near future.
